Madras University prescribes eligibility for B.Com courses

The University of Madras has revised regulations for various programmes offered under B.Com by its affiliated colleges.

The revision follows after approval by the Academic Council and the Senate.

Candidates who wish to pursue B.Com Computer Applications or B.Com Information Systems Management in colleges affiliated to the university must have studied in Class 12, commerce, accountancy and mathematics/statistics/business mathematics/computer science, the university registrar said.

Candidates seeking lateral entry to B.Com, B.Com Accounting and Finance, Marketing Management, Bank Management, Computer Application, Information System Management and Banking and Insurance Management, should have a pass in the three-year diploma courses in Commercial Practices, Modern Office Practices exams conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education or an examination accepted as equivalent thereof by the University’s Syndicate, the official further said.

The revised regulations would be uploaded shortly at www.unom.ac.in , a release said.
