A year ago, Lyca Productions, a subsidiary of the Lyca Group run by Tamil businessman Subaskaran Allirajah, was in the eye of a storm thanks to Tamil parties.

Back then, the Tamil parties refused to allow the release of actor Vijay’s Kaththi , produced by Lyca group, after allegations surfaced that he had business links with the former Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is alleged to have committed war crimes in the final stages of the civil war in Sri Lanka.

The production house seems to be making a comeback into the scene a year later. It has acquired the much-awaited Vetri Maaran film Visaranai .

This film has been selected to compete in Orrizonti section at the Venice film festival.

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan produced by actor Dhanush and starring Vijay Sethupathy, is also acquired by the group.
