‘Experience America,' an event to showcase the U.S. Consulate's educational resources, will be jointly organised by the consulate and the Alpha Group of Institutions in the city on July 27.
Announcing this at a press briefing here on Friday, Corinna Ybarra Arnold, Consul for Cultural Affairs, U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, said the programme aims at creating awareness among the students about higher education in the U.S., educational resources, including American Library, and student visas. Besides screening of American documentaries, various competitions such as drawing, poster and quiz, would be organised for school and college students, she said.
One of the highlights of the programme will be a workshop on ‘Creative teaching and problem solving methods' for students and teachers. It would be conducted by Sam Micklus, an expert on creative school education.
‘Know U.S. Club' would also be inaugurated in Alpha School and later extended to other schools, she added.
Grace George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions said the programme to be held at Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School, West CIT Nagar, would provide a platform for students to learn about global opportunities. Nearly 60 schools and colleges have registered so far for the event.
