Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) S. Malarvizhi has issued an official memorandum asking lawyers not to meet the accused inside the court premises.

She said, “It is often noticed that whenever the accused are produced for remand, the meeting creates an unpleasant situation within the court premises.”

“The advocates are directed to meet the accused for legal advice in the prison with the permission of authorities, and not inside the court premises,” she added.

“Any deviation in this regard shall be viewed seriously. The same shall be intimated to the Madras High Court and the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu,” the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate noted.
