K. Sivan to take over as VSSC Director

He succeeds M.C. Dathan

K. Sivan will take over as Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Thiruvananthapuram on June 1. He succeeds M.C. Dathan, who is retiring.

Dr. Sivan is now Director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He joined ISRO in 1982 in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) project and contributed to its mission planning, design, integration and analysis. He was the Mission Director of the successful Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-D5) flight with an indigenous cryogenic stage on January 5, 2014. GSLV-Mark III was ground-tested at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu on April 28.
