Commuters boarding MTC buses from Madipakkam have requested MTC officials to operate direct services to Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) and Guindy. Earlier, bus services 70K (Keezhkattalai – CMBT) and 70D (Madipakkam – Ambattur Industrial Estate) were operated, via Guindy. However, the services were stopped a few months ago, forcing commuters to board buses from Velachery Vijaya Nagar bus terminus.

“The two bus services enjoyed good patronage from residents of Madipakkam and neighbouring areas as they helped them reach their workplaces in Ambattur, Guindy and Koyambedu without much difficulty. As the services were stopped, residents rely on autorickshaws and shareautorickshaws to reach Velachery terminus.

For, M1 (Thiruvanmiyur –Keezhkattalai), V51 (Tambaram West – T. Nagar) and 45A (Madipakkam Bus Terminus –Vivekanandar Illam), which ply through Madipakkam and Velachery bus terminus, are crowded during rush hour,” says A. Vinod, a resident of Ram Nagar.

Residents say introduction of direct buses from Madipakkam or Keezhkattalai bus terminus to CMBT and Ambattur Industrial Estate will benefit them immensely.
