IIT-Madras team wins regional round of BL Cerebration quiz

Suhas Pai and G. Pranav Hari from IIT-Madras emerged winners in the Chennai round of the 17th edition of the ‘Cerebration Business Quiz’, organised by The Hindu BusinessLine , in association with the Union Bank of India on Saturday.

The team will represent Chennai region in the grand finale, to be held on September 7 at Mumbai, where the winning team will get a prize of ₹75,000. The regional champions were presented a cheque for ₹10,000, certificate and memento by G. Pulla Rao, regional head, Union Bank of India, in the presence of Madhavan N., associate editor, The Hindu BusinessLine.

So far, regional rounds have been completed in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Delhi, Kochi and Mumbai regional rounds will be held shortly. The IIT-M team edged out the team from TCS, comprising Aniruddha and Jayakanthan. IIT-M was the winner of the Chennai round in 2017, while TCS won in 2018.

Huge participation

The Cognizant team, comprising Saahil and Venkatesh, were second runners-up. Miraj Vora from Quiz Works was the quiz master. Over 85 teams participated in the preliminary round, answering 20 (written) questions.

The top six teams — TCS, IIT Madras, Cognizant, Freshworks, Ford and Samsung — made it to the four-round final, with questions pertaining to the world of business in text, visuals, audio and video formats.

LIC Housing Finance was the regional associate sponsor for the event.
