Unknown persons broke into a streetside temple in Secretariat Colony and stole three brass idols on Monday evening.

According to the police, the Balasubramanian temple is situated in one end of Kuttiappan Street, Nammalwarpet.

“On Monday evening, the priest, Mani, opened the temple to find that the idols of Murgan, Valli and Deivayani were missing. He informed Kumar, the manager, who in turn informed the Secretariat Colony police station,” said a police officer.

The idols were purchased from Parrys a few years ago for a price of Rs. 10,000.
