The Tiruvannamalai police are in the city in search of a woman who is suspected to be involved in the murder of a 35-year-old man in the temple town on Saturday.

The deceased, suspected to have had an affair with the woman, had allegedly murdered her nine-year-old son in March this year.

On Saturday, Nagaraj was hacked to death by a gang in Tiruvannamalai. He died on the spot and the police secured four persons with the help of CCTV footage from the locality.

During investigation, the police came to the know about the role of Manjula, 39, an assistant section officer in Tangedco, in the incident.

Following this, a special team is in MGR Nagar in Chennai to nab her. However, Ms. Manjula is still on the run.

“Her role is suspected in the crime. The victim Nagaraj, was her paramour and had murdered her son Ritesh Sai, 9, in March,” said a senior police officer.

Complaint lodged

Ms. Manjula and her husband Karthikeyan, 37, an interior decorator, lived in Ezhumalai Street, Nesapakkam. When Mr. Karthikeyan came to know of the affair he had lodged a complaint with the police. The police said he abused Nagaraj and warned him to stay away from his wife.

Infuriated over this, Nagaraj reportedly kidnapped the child and murdered him after taking him to an apartment complex on IAF Road in East Tambaram.
