Green corridor aids transplant

A green corridor facilitated by the Chennai traffic police helped transplant a heart from Government Stanley Hospital to Frontier Lifeline Hospital recently.

According to a press release, the organs of a 52-year-old man, who met with a road accident on Saturday and was declared brain dead at Stanley Hospital, were donated.

The heart was taken to Frontier Lifeline Hospital, where it was transplanted on a 39-year-old woman from Madurai.

The liver went to Apollo Hospitals, one kidney was used at Stanley while the other went to a hospital in Coimbatore. The cornea was sent to the Government Ophthalmic Hospital.
