Gangster who threatened policeman’s wife arrested

A 37-year-old man who had recently threatened the wife of a police inspector at the latter’s home in Ashok Nagar was arrested.

Sivakumar (37) of Gangarmam Thottam, Kodambakkam, was involved in 32 crime cases including robberies and also in the brutal murder of his associate in Choolaimedu in 2012.

He is wanted in criminal cases throughout the city and also in Puducherry. Convicted in 10 cases, he was booked under the Goondas Act by the city police on four occasions.

Sivakumar had cheated staff at a jewellery showroom in Abhiramapuram and gotten off with jewellery worth Rs. 5 lakh while claiming to be an advocate.

A city police inspector questioned him on his involvement in recent crime cases and Sivakumar had threatened the officer’s wife at their Ashok Nagar police quarters.

Having received information on his hideout, the anti-gangster team arrested Sivakumar on Saturday.

He was remanded to custody and sent to Puzhal prison, sources added.
