Four held for robbing man at knife point

Suspects stole ₹1,200 and a phone

The Elephant Gate police arrested four persons suspected of being involved in several cases of waylaying and robbery. They were identified as R. Shanmugam (19) of Korukkupet, K .Akash (19) of Elephant Gate, Amar alias Surendran (20) of Vyasarpadi and B. Mani (26) of Elephant Gate.

According to the police, Johnson Anthony was staying in Triplicane and working in a private firm at Chinthadripet. He was returning home through Elephant Gate Bridge from Ennore and on the way, asked four persons the route to Triplicane. They showed him a dark street and followed him. They then waylaid him and stole ₹1,200 and his mobile phone at knife-point.

The suspects were also involved in other cases.
