Five children employed as bonded labourers rescued

Five children from Odisha, who were working as bonded labourers in two units of a packaged drinking water treatment plant in Koyambedu, were rescued during a joint inspection by labour and revenue department officials on Friday.

The inspection was carried out based on information provided by the members of International Justice Mission and Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

The children were employed for treating the water using chlorine and packaging activities.

An inquiry is being conducted by officials of the Revenue Department.
