Residents of Ram Nagar and Thillai Ganga Nagar in Nanganallur see the need to have stops for MTC (Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses on Southern Sector Inner Ring Road

There is no halting point between Thillai Ganga Nagar subway and Vanuvampet halting points, and Vanuvampet, and Jayalakshmi Theatre, Jeevan Nagar, Adambakkam, halting points. MTC route numbers buses, 14M, 18D, and 76 passes through SSIRR.

Route numbers 14M, operating between NGO Colony, and Medavakkam Koot Road bus terminuses, and 18D operating between Keezhkattalai and Broadway bus terminuses, passes through Jayalakshmi Theatre halting point, and St. Thomas Mount railway station.

Route No : 76 passes through Thillai Ganga Nagar pedestrian and vehicular subway, and Grand Southern Trunk Road, St. Thomas Mount.

The nearest halting point for the residents of Ram Nagar, and Thillai Ganga Nagar is Vanuvampet halting point. The halting point is located at a distance of more than one kilometre.

A. Raghavan, a long-time resident of Nanganallur, and a social activist, says, “If steps are taken to facilitate halting points near and opposite Ananda Mahal, this will be a boon to the public, especially senior-citizens, who come in large numbers to religious shrines during the weekends.” There are a good number of religious shrines in the vicinity.

Besides, facilitating a halting point will enable the residents-commuters to board buses to go to St. Thomas Mount railway station (electrical multiple units) and metro station, and Alandur metro station. Due to lack of proper mini-bus connectivity along the interior roads of Nanganallur, the commuters have to pay around 50 rupees to go to Pazhavanthangal railway station.

“There is adequate space for creation of a halting point near and opposite the hall. A proper shelter, and seating facilities, along with route numbers passing through the stretch, and routes undertaken must be displayed.”

The residents-commuters have de-cried the move by the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, which has facilitated a halting point at the intersection of SSIRR, and Medavakkam Main Road.
