People travelling in the southern and Southern-Western Railway will now be able to order food of their choice through e-catering service.

According to V. Sriram, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation ’s South Zone Regional Director, passengers can book their food through either SMS (‘MEAL’ to 139) or by phone 1800-1034-139 (toll-free) and 0120-4383892-99 (toll). The food will be served in their seats at the appointed stations from food plazas and fast food units managed by the IRCTC.

The service was launched at January-end in 38 pairing trains across the country. More trains are expected to be added shortly, he said.
