DMK leader’s son held for rash driving, released on bail

DMK candidate for Chennai North constituency Kalanidhi Veerasamy’s 20-year-old son, Siddharth, was arrested by the traffic police after his vehicle hit a sub inspector on Pantheon Road, Egmore, on Thursday.

Around 10.45 a.m., the vehicle hit Jayabalan, an SI with the CCB, the police said. The traffic police booked a case against Siddharth under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (causing hurt by any act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC.

He was arrested and released on bail. The SI was treated at a private hospital.
