Starting January 15, the Chennai Corporation will operate its cycle-sharing system in the city from 21 locations. Five Metro stations and 16 feeder stations will have the system in the first phase.

The Corporation gave its approval for the 21 locations early this week. Testing of the system is underway in Anna Nagar and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has agreed to give temporary power supply for testing the system, officials said.

Work on the Thirumangalam Metro station started a few days ago, and the installation has been completed. “We will inspect the facility next week,” said an official. Work on commissioning the system in Metro stations at Anna Nagar East, Anna Nagar Tower and Shenoy Nagar would also be completed shortly, said an official.

The Corporation has asked the service provider to apply for power connection from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for implementing, operating and maintaining the project for seven years.
