December 27, 2014 09:16 am | Updated 09:16 am IST - CHENNAI:

On Friday, the CSI Kalyani Hospital inaugurated their SOMATOM Scope – 16 slice CT scanner. The device was donated to the hospital by the Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation.

The hospital will offer scans to patients at a 20- 30 per cent discount, depending on their needs.

According to J. Jerene Jayanth, the medical director of CSI Kalyani Multi Specialty Hospital, this CT scanner is especially useful for patients who have severe trauma.

“Earlier, patients had to be sent to other scan centres for complex CT scans. This caused great difficulty to many patients,” he said.

The hospital is currently constructing a new centenary hospital and has a number of outreach programs, for which they are looking for corporate sponsors.

“Our hospital aims to provide subsidised healthcare to the needy,” he said.

The SOMATOM Scope was inaugurated by B. Nataraj, director of Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation and director of the Sanmar Group along with T. Devaputhiran, administrative secretary of CSI Madras Diocese.
