Court allays advocates association’s fear

June 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court on Friday dismissed the petition by Madras High Court Advocates Association, which challenged the recognition granted to Tamil Nadu Advocates Association (TNAA) by the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu.

Dismissing the petition, a Division Bench comprising Justices V. Ramasubramanian and K. Ravichandrabaabu said that the real apprehension of the petitioner appeared to be that once TNAA was recognised by the Bar Council, they would automatically get recognition from the Registry of the Court.

“This fear, more than anything else, such as the recognition granted by the Bar Council, has actually led the petitioner to come up with the writ petition. But there is no basis for such an apprehension” they said in a detailed order.
