Competition puts focus on environment

Event stresses need to save resources

The 11th edition of ENVIRO 2019, an environmental awareness competition for schools, was held at IIT Madras on Sunday, by the Industrial Waste Management Association and the Science Olympiad Foundation to recognise schoolchildren for their interest in the environment.

Over 500 students participated in competitions like cartooning and mascot designing, on themes such as ‘Global water crisis’.

R. Ramsubbu, joint chief environmental engineer, TNPCB, stressed on the need to save energy and water.

Biju Balendran, managing director and CEO, Renault – Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd, guest of honour, encouraged students to follow sustainable practices for the environment.
