The police have identified the woman whose severed limbs were found in the Perungudi dumpyard two weeks ago.
The woman has been identified as Sandhya a native of Tuticorin, who was staying with her husband Balakrishnan in Jafferkhanpet.
When the sanitary staff found the limbs on January 20, it had a tatoo on it. With this as the only clue, the police checked missing complaints. It also traced a complaint of a mother in Thoothukudi who had reported that her daughter was missing in Chennai.
The police also circulated notices with pictures of the severed hands. Those with information about the identity of the woman were asked to contact the police control room.
Police are questioning her husband.
Further investigation is on.
