A saint’s life
Here’s news for the spiritually-inclined. A film is to be made on the life history of Vaishnavaite saint Sri Ramanuja, who preached that God belongs to all. Titled Sri Ramanujar , the film is to be jointly produced by T. Krishnan and Sethuram, and directed by Ravi V Chandran. It will feature interesting incidents from the life of the saint, whose samadhi is located in Srirangam. Srirangam Rangamani will pen the dialogue.
Release race
Post-Deepavali, there’s a little more clarity on the release dates of some of the eagerly-awaited films. Sources say that Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki , featuring Vikram Prabu, a grandson of Sivaji Ganesan, in the lead along with Lakshmi Menon, will release in December, while Karthi’s Alex Pandian is to release for Pongal. Alex Pandian , which will have Anushka and Santhanam apart from Karthi, has been directed by Suraaj. Director Gautham Menon’s team has already announced that his Neethane En Ponvasantham will hit the screens in December. Looks like a sumptuous feast awaits Tamil film buffs!
Wrapping up Vallinam
Director Arivazhagan, an associate of director Shankar who impressed audiences with his first film Eeram , is counting on the power of social media to promote his next film Vallinam among youngsters. “I plan to use YouTube, Twitter and Facebook extensively to promote my film,” says Arivazhagan, a gold medallist from the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. The director, who has almost completed shooting his Vallinam , which is about basketball, says the film’s trailers and songs too are ready.
“I intend to release the audio and trailer of my film before December 10,” says Arivazhagan, who will be introducing a Tamil-speaking heroine in the film opposite Nakul. “My heroine Mridula is a classical dancer who resides in Bangalore,” informs the director who is busy canning the last portion of the film.
