Activist held for putting up banner

July 27, 2017 01:13 am | Updated 01:13 am IST - CHENNAI

A social activist put up a banner at the gate of the office of the Director General of Police on Kamarajar Salai, creating a flutter on Wednesday. The banner that read ‘Gutka Warehouse’ — referring to the gutkha scam — was put up by Senthil Murugan, a social activist from Madurai.

A senior officer said the social activist was arrested after he tried to raise slogans against DGP T.K. Rajendran after putting up the banner.

The Marina police have filed a case and are investigating.
