There would be certain regulations on movement of vehicles on Grand Southern Trunk Road on Saturday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in connection with the inaugural function of the new Assembly and Secretariat complex in Chennai.
A press release from Chennai Suburban Police Commissioner S.R. Jangid said that all government and private buses, other heavy and light commercial vehicles, jeeps and cars from Chengalpattu, would have to reach the city through Chennai Bypass. All vehicles, including those belonging to party men heading for the function venue would be diverted at Irumbuliyur and would not be allowed to travel on GST Road.
The vehicles would have to enter the city through Koyambedu intersection.
Vehicles from Tambaram would be diverted through Velachery Main Road to reach the city. Similarly, vehicles from Bangalore to Chennai would have to travel to Koyambedu intersection from Saveetha Dental College and those on Mount–Poonamallee Road would be diverted at Kumananchavady intersection.
The flow of traffic on GST Road would be stopped for a brief while before and after the function to make way for the VIP convoy.
Motorists have been asked to reach their destinations well ahead of time.
