A head constable attached to the Teynampet police station was found dead in his house here on Friday.

According to police sources, head constable Vadivelu (45) was staying at the police quarters in Teynampet. His neighbours alerted the police about a foul smell emanating from the house that was locked from inside. Police forced open the door and found Vadivelu hanging from the ceiling. The body was shifted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The victim's wife, Devaki (40), had gone to her parents' place along with her two children. Vadivelu was said to be in a state of depression after his daughter Thulasi (10) died recently of illness.
