Mystery shrouds death

A 38-year-old man summoned for an inquiry to the Perunagar police station on Friday was subsequently found lying with a noose around his neck at the toilet on the premises of the station. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Government Hospital here.

Malar (30), wife of Saravanan (38) of Manampathy, complained on Thursday that her husband, a painter, was addicted to liquor and beat her and their two sons.

Saravanan turned up at the station, reportedly drunk. He waited at the station as the Special SI went to an accident spot. Saravanan who went to a toilet, did not return. Policemen broke the door and found him lying with a noose around his neck.
