A group of Muslim organisations in the State has issued a joint appeal to the community to exercise restraint after the proclamation of judgment in the Babri Masjid demolition case, irrespective of its outcome.
The Tamil Nadu All Muslim Community Organisations and Parties Federation, in a release, urged fellow Muslims to desist from violence post-judgment.
They also urged the Centre to handle with an iron fist anyone who tried to desecrate places of worship after the pronouncement of the judgment.
The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, joined cause with them, reiterating that communalism always brought death, destruction and horror, all of which had been witnessed in the past.
“As citizens of a secular country, all of us should respect the Constitution and welcome the verdict wholeheartedly. No community should rejoice or lose their cool, nor indulge in any violence, protest and agitation,” he said.
