In a joint operation, the Organised Crime Intelligence Unit (OCIU) and the Chennai Police detained a suspect allegedly involved in many grave crimes at Velachery on Thursday, police sources said.
The accused, whose details were not disclosed to the media, was found to be in possession of a pistol.
On specific information that he was seen in Velachery, a special team swooped down on the suspect and took him into custody, the sources said.
“He is involved in about 24 serious offences, including some murders.... we were tracking his movement. The accused visited Nepal recently. The source of the pistol and his links with international outfits are under investigation,” a senior police official said.
