ITI exams cancelled

July 29, 2010 02:01 am | Updated 02:01 am IST - CHENNAI:

The State government cancelled examinations of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for all streams of vocational education, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, following a media report of question paper leak.

An official release said that the All-India level exams for ITIs were being held in 125 centres across the state from July 23 under the supervision of officials of the Directorate of Employment and Training.

A newspaper carried a news item on Wednesday that the question paper for the exam for fitters trade had been leaked.

On learning about the development, the State Labour Minister ordered an enquiry to find out if the question paper leak originated in the State or in some other State as the exams were conducted nationwide simultaneously.

After a detailed enquiry, it would take appropriate action against those responsible for the question paper leak.

After consulting the Director-General of Employment and Training in New Delhi, the date for the cancelled exams would be announced.
