CMDA delegates powers to Chennai Corporation

The Chennai Corporation now has powers to regularise unauthorised plot subdivisions done after December 31, 1989, and to issue planning permissions for ordinary buildings.

The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has delegated the powers to the civic body and other local bodies in the Chennai Metropolitan Area with effect from January 19.

The Corporation Council was notified about the delegation of powers at its meeting on Friday.

The plot subdivisions should not exceed eight plots.

Conditions

The conditions to be fulfilled for issue of planning permission include the submission of the planning permission application based on the plot development control rules, undivided plot not exceeding 1,000 sq m and existence of only ordinary buildings in the residual plots.
