Bandh call hampers passengers' Tirupati visit

Passengers who planned to visit hill shrine at Tirupati this weekend have reportedly been stranded at Chennai mofussil bus trminus since yesterday as 30 bus services have been suspended due to the bandh call there given by some outfits for a united state.

An all-party Joint Action Committee, spearheading the movement for a united Andhra Pradesh, has called for a bandh today.

Sources in the State Express Transport Corporations (SETC) said buses to Andhra Pradesh have been suspended since Sunday and that services would not be operated till tomorrow. Normal operations were expected to resume from Wednesday, they said.

However, train services to Andhra Pradesh have not been disrupted. "All trains to Andhra Pradesh are plying normally," a Southern Railway source said.
