Ansari inaugurates herbal garden at Raj Bhavan

Vice-President M. Hamid Ansari on Monday inaugurated a herbal garden at Raj Bhavan here in the presence of Governor Surjit Singh Barnala. The Vice-President and the Governor also planted herbal plants. The herbal garden has 30 species of native herbs with medicinal properties, according to a Raj Bhavan release. Earlier, Mr. Ansari was accorded a warm welcome at the Chennai airport. He was received by Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers M.K. Alagiri and Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

A. Raja, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology; S.S. Palanimanickam, Union Minister of State for Finance; Kanimozhi and Vasanthi Stanley, Members of Parliament; Durai Murugan, K.N. Nehru, Thangam Thennarasu, E.V. Velu, T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, T.M. Anbarasan, Poongothai Aladi Aruna and M.R.K.Paneerselvam, State Ministers, were among those who presented shawls to him.

K.S. Sripathi, Chief Secretary; Letika Saran, Director General of Police; K. Radhakrishnan, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order; and the heads of three forces were also present at the airport.
