45 slum children take part in summer camp

A summer camp for children organised by the Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust will be drawing to a close on Friday. It was held for the first time last year and it featured storytelling, fold dance, Indian martial arts and craft work. This year dance and theatre were included.

Apart from 32 children from Bala Mandir in T.Nagar , 45 children from slums in neighbouring areas participated. They were all in classes between III and VIII.

Activities

Daily activities were held between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. followed by lunch. Apart from teachers from Bala Mandir school, volunteers from Shishya, MCTM International School and students from University of Hyderabad taught the students in the camp.

The valedictory of the camp will be held between 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. on Friday at Satyamurthy High School, Giriappa Road in T.Nagar opposite Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust. Facilitators also included faculty from Government College of Arts. Isak Nazer, Governor of Rotary Club, the sponsors for the summer camp, will be the chief guest at the valedictory of the function.
