Three persons, including two women, were killed and five others injuried in an accident at Gangaikondan near here on Friday afternoon.
Police said Rajaiah, 65, of Madurai and his wife Paulin, 60, car driver Babu Muthuramalingam, 35, and his wife Anna Jayaseeli, 30, were going to Papanasam in their car. When they were near Gangaikondan, an autorickshaw hit the car. The occupants of the vehicles were having an argument in the middle of the four-lane Tirunelveli-Madurai National Highway, when a speeding mini lorry hit them. Rajaiah was killed on the spot. Two others succumbed to injuries in hospital.
