22 persons test positive for COVID-19

Fresh cases reported in 9 districts

Tamil Nadu reported 22 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The cases were reported in 9 of the 38 districts.

All 9 districts reported fewer than 10 cases each. While 9 persons tested positive for the infection in Chennai, there were six cases in Chengalpattu. The remaining seven districts - Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Karur, Madurai, Ranipet, Theni and Tiruppur - reported a single case each.

The State’s tally of COVID-19 cases was 34,53,134. Twenty-five persons, including 12 in Chennai, were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries so far to 34,14,883.

As many as 226 persons are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, including 94 in Chennai, 35 in Chengalpattu and 16 in Coimbatore. There were nil active cases in 12 districts on Tuesday.

A total of 17,053 samples were tested. This took the total number of samples tested so far to 6,58,52,835.
