₹10 lakh solatium for kin of clash victims

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday announced a solatium of ₹10 lakh to the families of each of the two persons who died of injuries sustained in a clash between two communities in Sivaganga district last week.

In a statement, the Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the families of Shanmuganathan and Arumugam, who succumbed to injuries following a clash in a temple festival at Kachanatham village near Manamadurai on May 25.

While ₹8.25 lakh would be granted from the Adi Dravida Welfare Department to the families of each of the persons who died in the incident, ₹1.75 lakh would be granted from the CM’s Public Relief Fund,

Likewise, those injured would be granted ₹1 lakh from the Adi Dravida Welfare Department and ₹50,000 would be granted from the CM’s Public Relief Fund. The CM has also instructed the district administration and police officers to support people who were affected in the incident.

“I have also instructed the Madurai District Collector and hospitals authorities to ensure proper medical treatment to those who suffered injuries in the incident,” he added.
