‘Madukkarai Maharaj’ death: HC seeks autopsy report

The First Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the government to file the post-mortem report conducted on the tusker, Madukkarai ‘Maharaj.’ The Bench passed the oral order on a mention made by advocate Deepika . Pointing to a petition moved by Prema Veeraraghavanof Elsa Foundation, seeking to restrain the Wildlife Warden from capturing the elephant through operation “Madukkarai Maharaj” which was closed by the court on Monday, the advocate said, “The tusker has been declared dead.”

She sought the court to direct doctors from Animal Welfare Board of India to conduct the post mortem.
