Youth slashes girlfriend’s cheek after breakup

April 03, 2013 09:19 am | Updated 09:19 am IST - Bangalore:

A polytechnic student was attacked by her former boyfriend who slashed her cheek in full public view in Rajarajeshwarinagar after an argument over the breakup in Bangalore Tuesday afternoon.

The girl was waiting at the bus-stop to go home when her ex-boyfriend turned up and picked a quarrel with her over their breakup six months ago.

In the middle of the heated argument, he allegedly pulled out a knife and slashed her face before fleeing.

People waiting at the bus-stop rushed her to hospital. Doctors said the girl received a four-inch gash on her cheek.

The RR Nagar police said they are looking for the accused.

Conned

After a lull, three imposters posing as policemen conned a senior citizen of Rs. 2 lakh worth gold jewellery in Basaveshwaranagar in the city on Tuesday evening.

Rajalakshmi (name changed) was returning from her evening walk when she was accosted by the trio who made her nervous by talking about the possibility of her being mugged.

They then helped her remove her gold bangles, ostensibly wrapped them in a piece of paper and tied the packet to a corner of her sari.

After they left, an uneasy Ms. Rajalakshmi untied the knot to find some pebbles and a bottle cap.

She immediately went to Basaveshwaranagar police station where she found another woman who had been similarly victimised, losing her gold chain and bangles. The police are investigating.

Pedestrian killed

B. Janardhana Reddy (30) was killed on the spot when a speeding cab knocked him down while he was crossing the road near Phoenix mall on Whitefield Road early on Tuesday.

Marijuana seized

Cottonpet police raided a house in Anjinappa Garden on Mysore Road and arrested Muruga who was found with 27 kg marijuana worth Rs. 4 lakh in his possession.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that Muruga is part of a gang led by Mala, a notorious drug peddler on Mysore Road.

Mala used to get the consignment from her contact, Jaffar from Salem.

She was earlier involved in three drug peddling cases and two assault cases are pending against her, police said.
