Youth arrested on charge of attempting to rape minor girl

A 18-year-old youth was arrested on the charge of attempting to rape a minor girl in the slum quarters in Kasavanahalli in H.S.R. Layout on Thursday.

According to the police, the victim, a five-year-old, and the accused Venkatesh were residing in the same building in the slum quarters. On Thursday, at around 3 p.m., he noticed the girl playing in front of her house. He lured her by offering her biscuits and took her to the first floor of the flat. He allegedly undressed her and touched her inappropriately.

When the girl started to cry, he let her go.

The mother asked her why she was crying and she narrated the incident. The mother questioned the accused who denied the incident. They approached the police, who visited the spot and questioned the accused, he confessed to have attempted to rape the child.

The accused was arrested and booked under Section 354 IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
