An alert female constable from Electronics City police station caught a 35-year-old woman who had provided bail to at least two accused in criminal cases over the last month using forged documents.

The accused, Savithri, had submitted two sets of documents, including Aadhaar cards, with different details, but with the same photo. The police were trying to track her down when the constable spotted Savithri in court on Saturday. She immediately took her in for questioning.

“The accused had Aadhaar cards in two different names. She had submitted fake documents for several land records to bail people out,” said the police.

Inquiries revealed that Savithri is a high school dropout from Byrapatna and has been bailing people out with forged documents for one year.

“She operates alone in the city court complex, and had a network of informers who would tell her about people who needed surety for bail. She provided the documents, and got them bail for a fee of ₹10,000-₹20,000 depending upon the financial status of the accused,” a police officer said. “The accused would then jump bail, and we could never trace them, as all the documents were forged.”

Savithri has been booked for forgery and cheating, and taken into custody for further investigation.
