A 35-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her housein Rajagopal Nagar on Tuesday evening. The deceased, Uma, was a homemaker. Her husband, Ramesh, owns a medical store in the same area.

According to the police, they were alerted by the landlady’s daughter who discovered her body.

Police found ligature marks on the victim’s neck. During preliminary investigations, they found discrepancies in the statement given by the husband and the neighbours.

While the husband claimed that he came home from the medical shop at 2.30 p.m. to eat lunch, the landlady told the police that Uma had gone out of the house at noon and she did not notice her returning. However, she heard some sounds at 1.30 p.m. and assumed the couple was at home, she said.

Some of Ramesh’s relatives approached the police inspector of Rajagopal Nagar requesting him not to do a post-mortem. However, the body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case of murder.
