Unidentified youths threw a tender coconut at a woman who was on her way to the gym on Monday evening in Jayanagar. The woman, who is yet to lodge a police complaint, thinking that it was a one-off incident, reportedly ignored it at first. However, the men started throwing more things at her.
When she took a different route, the men allegedly followed her and slapped her. Petrified, she ran into the gym and recounted the incident to the gym instructor.
She also tweeted about it to City Police Commissioner N.S. Megharik.
The victim said that since it was dark, she could neither identify the miscreants nor note down their vehicle numbers. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Kumar told The Hindu that after they got to know of the tweet, they contacted the victim. They have asked her to file a complaint. “We will register a case and initiate action to identify her attackers after she lodges a complaint,” he said.
