The froth had reappeared in Varthur lake last week.

Froth in copious amounts has collected at the inlets and outlets of the notoriously polluted Varthur lake.

Jagadish Reddy of Varthur Rising said the froth had reappeared four days ago, and by Tuesday, it had come up to the level of the road.

“Generally, we see froth when it rains. But, even with sewage flow remaining the same, the lake has started frothing,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara said he had received complaints of frothing, but claimed it was due to apartments in the area. “While STPs are mandatory for apartments, many complexes have not installed them or are not maintaining them. We will take strict action against them,” he said.
