Two held on cheating charge

Two men identified as Srinivasan V.(36) and his associate, Arun, were arrested on cheating charge recently and valuables worth Rs. 1.15 crore, including 120 gram of gold jewellery, two cars and Rs. 5.6 lakh in cash, were recovered from him.

Srinivasan was arrested on a complaint by K.A. Selvam from Salem in Tamil Nadu. The complainant told the police that Srinivasan had taken Rs. 8 lakh from him in December promising to ensure that his daughter got a medical seat. But when Srinivasan did not keep his word, Selvam lodged a complaint with the police.

According to police, Srinivasan claimed to be the managing director of ‘AYSY Consultancy’ in the city. He collected cash from several people promising them medical seats.
