The traffic police have formed 44 special teams across the city to ease traffic movement during any rain-related eventuality.

At a meeting convened by P. Harishekaran, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), on Wednesday, special teams were formed at each police station level. They will be equipped with motorised saw, ropes, choppers, buckets, and heavy-duty torchlights to clear fallen trees and attend to flooding in their jurisdiction.

The teams have been asked to form WhatsApp groups with officials of civic agencies, including BBMP, Bescom, and BWSSB, and the Forest Department and also members of the State disaster management cell for better management of the situation. Twelve places prone to flooding, including Silk Board junction, Nagawara Road, Mysuru Road, and parts of the CBD, have been identified and measures taken to contain flooding.

Traffic police officials have also been asked to purchase motors to pump out water to ease the traffic situation, Mr. Harishekaran said.
