The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has taken several measures to “beautify” the city. After painting the walls, it has envisaged another means to improve the city's aesthetics.

The palike has now appealed to citizens across the city to clear unused, scrapped vehicles from the roadsides and footpaths within a week's time.

Else, the civic authorities will tow away the vehicles to the dump yards.

BBMP Commissioner M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda has said that citizens have taken to dumping unused, scrap vehicles on roadsides and footpaths, which adds to the congestion on roads.

In an order on Thursday, Mr. Gowda has appealed to citizens to move such vehicles.

According to sources, zonal officials have been directed to keep a lookout for such vehicles parked in areas under their jurisdiction.
