The police are on the hunt for unidentified men who killed a cow while attempting to steal it at Bhattarahalli near K.R. Puram on Friday night.

The animal belonged to Govindaswamy, a farmer, who in his complaint to the police said it had managed to untie itself and strayed into an empty plot of land near his house, approximately 400 metres away.

Later that night, the men who saw the cow unattended, gagged it to prevent it from bellowing and tied its legs before attempting to drag it outside the enclosure. However, the cow got stuck in some barbed wire fencing, sustained injuries while it struggled to escape, and died, according to the police.

On Saturday morning, when he was unable to find his cow, Govindaswamy, his father and other farmers started a search. A few hours later, they found the carcass in the barbed wire.
