A 24-year-old software professional was allegedly assaulted by two men in the middle of the road on Saturday night. The software professional was rescued by a Good Samaritan who was passing by in his bike.
He approached the jurisdictional police on Saturday night, but police allegedly refused to take cognizance of the incident. On Sunday, he tweeted about the incident to the police commissioner, following which Kadugodi police registered a non-cognizable report.
According to the police, the victim Ajit hails from Patna in Bihar. He works for a multinational company. He had gone shopping groceries and was returning home with a bag full of groceries on his two-wheeler. Around 8.45 p.m., as he reached Retreat Signa near Belathur Main Road, his grocery bag fell down. He stopped the bike to pick up the packets.
When he turned around, two men were standing behind him. "One man was reeking of alcohol. He snatched the packets and shouted something in Kannada. I think he was asking why did I pick up the packets and punched me. The duo punched me on my face, head and neck. I have bruised fingers and I am scared to venture out,” said Ajit.
When a man driving by on his bike with his wife stopped to help, the attackers started their bike, snatched the grocery bags and drove away.
"I couldn't note the bike's number," he said.
