The State government has written to the Union government asking them to ban the Blue Whale Challenge, following instances of adolescents committing suicide or attempting to do so, allegedly because of the game.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait has written to officials of the department to spread awareness about the consequences of participating in the Blue Whale challenge, where ‘players’ are reportedly given a series of tasks which ends with them being instructed to kill themselves.
The Minister said that if anybody hears about their peers participating in these challenges, they should report it to the nearest police station.
