A group of activists led by the former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Krishna on Tuesday staged a demonstration at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in front of the court in Mysore demanding speedy implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Members of the Bhrashtachara Virodhi Ranga, Backward Classes Welfare Committee, the Freedom Fighters' Association, the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Trust, Mysore, and some leaders of the local units of the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) participated under the banner of “Root out Corruption, Save the Nation”.

The protesters urged the Centre to take steps to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks by corrupt politicians and wealthy persons. They demanded more power for the Lokayukta in Karnataka, so it could bring the Chief Minister within its purview and appoint ombudsmen in each district to bring down corruption.

The protesters later marched to the Deputy Commissioner's office where a memorandum was submitted.
